It’s rare that one drinks a beer that so clearly resembles a cocktail, and yet, that’s what the Frog Stack does. Gose’s have a bit of leeway in their flavor profile in that an average one is still a well made drink. This one, however, is exceptional.
In aroma alone, it’s the same as a Pusser’s Painkiller. And drinks almost identically, but in a way that one could still notice that it’s a beer. The pineapple and orange are dominant on the palate. With the coconut/marshmallow dominating the nose. Interestingly enough, though most of the flavors in this are as labeled, it’s the combination of them that shines. A degree in any direction and the beer would not be nearly as well balanced as it is.
What should be noted is that this beer is heavy. Like I could drink 2 and wonder if I’m going to be spending an hour on the bike per beer, heavy. Which is exactly what makes it good for rounding out an evening, say around 10pm on a homebased Friday.
Final Note: Do not use this as a painkiller substitute or your guests will be disappointed. It should also be noted that upon further reading, the flavors that make up the Frog Stack are in fact seasonal. We will be back for further reviews.

Notes on the Brewery
Phase Three Brewing Co is a Lake Zurich IL based producer. Their signature seems to be infused beers with the Frog Stack being a typical example of what the Brewers pride themselves on. They do ship beer, though how far is not something that I am currently aware of. If you’re capable of getting out to Lake Zurich, be certain to check them out!
